I’ve been rock climbing for almost three years now. I can confidently say that this hobby and sport has changed my life. It’s strange how something can start so small and then manifest itself into something that takes such a great importance in one’s life.

My uncle runs marathons nonstop. He loves to run and even created a website that has a large following now (www.marathonmaniacs.com). He’s traveled the world, doing marathons and other races for decades. It’s his obsession, and something I’m sure he thinks about all the time- training, new places to run at, equipment, etc etc. Why am I talking about this? I just feel like so many people lack a hobby or a passion in life. Something to really focus on and enjoy, no matter where they are or what they are doing. I know that from here on out, my (hopeful) destination will have some sort of rock climbing in it. It’s something that will stay with me for life, health willing.

There are tons of great options for hobbies. Any sport- martial arts, ultimate frisbee, golfing, swimming, pickup basketball, running, hiking, etc…those are all fantastic options. Some of my other friends have hobbies such as cooking, photography, video games, and others. Find something you like and go for it.

Some cool photos-

——————————————————————————————

My oblique injury is healing nicely. I was super worried after I first injured it because I could barely move (and thought that it would take months to heal). I’ve got enough strength to do a few pull ups without it hurting too badly, so that’s great. I predict this injury will probably be in the neighborhood of three weeks before it’s all healed up. Still can’t quite run yet without it hurting, but I hope that will heal as well.

Will continue to update this as it heals. Will also update this blog about some potential gaming work that I might be doing in the very near future as well. Cheers.

Had a decent injury yesterday while climbing. My oblique was already hurting a little bit from being strained. I could feel it improving though and it was probably ~1 week or so from being all the way healed. I decided to do the ‘smart’ thing and work out on it.

Near the top of the climb, I popped my muscle and I felt it spasm. Today I can’t even do a push up or a pull up. My side feels very sore and it hurts to move.

From reading on a few basic sites (http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/sprainsstrains/a/abdominal.htm), I’m probably in the Grade II. I hope that it will recover and be near 100%.

Not really sure what else to do for workout. My finger is still hurting, so maybe it’ll be good to rest my entire body. Once I can do some cardio I’ll probably do that. Pissed off all around though

Other than that, not too much else to say. I may have a gaming opportunity in the very near future and will discuss it when the time comes.

http://pokerfuse.com/news/poker-room-news/pokerstars-buys-full-tilt-settles-with-doj/

Today has already been labeled ‘Green Tuesday’ if the above is true. If FTP does in fact release money to U.S. players, it would be a huge step in the right direction for online gaming in the U.S. If the Department of Justice signs off on it, we might even see some regulated online poker gambling in the U.S. in the future.

Twitter/2+2/etc are all blowing up right now. There is a ton of information still coming though, so we’ll see where this takes us.

——————————————————————————————-
Cool video-

I also got a chance to watch ‘The Raid’, an Asian movie that is pretty much pure action. It was a fun watch and I enjoyed it:

Deep in the heart of Jakarta’s slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world’s most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the rundown apartment block has been considered untouchable to even the bravest of police. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, the building’s lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the 6th floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city’s worst to survive their mission. Director Gareth Evans (Merantau) and rising martial arts star Iko Uwais reunite in this adrenaline-fueled action film.

——————————————————————————–

GL to all my fellow poker players…hope this deal goes through.

Greek Fight night is having an event at the end of this month. GFN is an open boxing event for amateurs only. I’m desperately trying to get my friend in it. A few years ago he fought at one of the events with zero experience and four days to train. The entire thing was hilarious.

Hello all, hope you have been well. I haven’t updated this thing in a while because frankly, there isn’t really much to say. With poker gone, I’ve been thinking a lot about where to go next.

I think I’m going to teach English in Korea for a bit. After some thinking about where I want to eventually go towards (probably gaming industry (will see when the time comes)), I’ve decided that I might as well do something productive for the next year or so. Teaching English abroad should be an overall fun experience and something I’m really looking forward to.

I probably won’t end up going until later on in the fall. I have a few things I need to take care of before I go (namely, a few weddings and a few minor trips). In the meantime, I’m doing more research/planning towards an ESL job (getting my background information/etc out). If and when I do end up getting a job, I’ll hopefully have a post about the application process up for anyone else interested.

The last few months have been fairly boring all around….but perhaps that’s just life after college. I have been exercising more all around and am happy with my progress. With the weather being nicer I am able to run outdoors more often as well. I’m sure biking will follow soon enough.

My friends and I took a cool ski trip out to Vail, CO a few weeks back. We only skied two days but the conditions were good and the runs were fantastic. The mountain as a whole is quite large, and though it costs more $ than the other typical parks (Copper, Keystone, etc), it’s worth it (IMO). It felt good skiing; as I haven’t gone in a few years. Such a fantastic workout and really fun as well.

I was fortunate enough to watch Florida play in the NCAA tournament this year. They played in Omaha and were victorious twice. I’m still quite bitter at how their season ended (blowing a huge lead to Louisville in the final minutes), but can’t be too angry. They weren’t expected to make it nearly that far. Oh well…if Bradley Beal comes back next year, they will be very serious contenders (with Young already saying that he will be back).

Also, one more headsup to everyone else- Game of Thrones starts up this coming Sunday (April 1st).

Also, new trailer for Prometheus, really excited for this movie as well:

Super pumped!
